How to Stop Worrying: Meditation the Antidote to Worry

“How can I stop worrying?” is a question asked by many. We know we should not worry, but how can we get free from it’s grip? We know that anxiety does nothing to solve the problem, in fact, it can cause more problems. Studies show that worry can cause all kind of health issues ranging from depression to headaches to cancer.

Worry is a form of meditation- we are focusing on a problem rather than on something positive. One way to get free from worry is by switching our focus and meditating on the Word of God, rather than on the difficulty we’re facing. Here are some Bible verses to meditate on when you’re feeling anxious or “weighed down” by a problem:

Deuteronomy 31: 8 And the Lord, He it is that doth go before thee; He will be with thee, He will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.

Proverbs 3: 5-6 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Phillipians 4: 6-7 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Psalm 34:4 I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you.

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
