Scriptures Against Fear,Confession Card

Fear is something we cannot afford to play with. If we put up with it, and try to “learn to live with it,” it will only get worse and we’ll be inviting all kinds of chaos and problems into our lives.

Children, as well as adults, have to deal with fear. One way to eradicate it, is by speaking scriptures.

I created this confession card for children. When I taught in the children’s ministry, I enjoyed giving the children their own confession and having them read it out loud as a group. Doing this every week is a powerful way to get the word in them.

5 x 3.5 Lion, Fear

1. I am strong and of a good courage, I fear not. I am not afraid because the Lord is always with me. He never fails me.
2. I pray to the Lord, and He hears me, and delivers me from all my fears.
3. I am as bold as a lion.
4. God has not given me a spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
5. God’s love is perfect, I am full of God’s love. Perfect love gets rid of fear so I am free from fear.

Psalm 91 Protection: How to Activate God’s Word

      Comments Off on Psalm 91 Protection: How to Activate God’s Word

Psalm 91 is filled with many wonderful promises of protection- safety from hidden dangers, deadly diseases, terror (or terrorists), flying arrows (or bullets!), pestilences, disasters, destruction (tornadoes, hurricanes, fires, car wrecks etc.) It goes on to say, “ A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.”

But, like other promises in the Bible, God’s promises of protection are not automatic just because you are born again. You must activate the promises in order to get them working in your life. So how do you do that? We’ll look at a clue in Psalm 91:1, “He that lives in the shelter of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”

To abide means to continually spend time with God- worshiping Him, talking to Him, spending time in His Word and obeying Him. If you have been been doing things you know are not pleasing to God, simply repent and ask God to help you live the way He wants you to.

Meditating on scriptures is an important part of spending time with God. According to John 1:1, God and His Word are one.

Whatever scriptures you want to “activate” in your life are the ones you need to meditate on. To meditate means to mutter, to speak, to ponder, to imagine, to talk, or to study.

To “activate” the protection offered in Psalm 91, start by reading the chapter out loud several times. If possible, read it from several different Bible translations. Also personalize it and think about what you are saying. The way you personalize it is by saying “I” or “me” where appropriate and customizing it to fit your particular situation.

For example if you are dealing with cancer, instead of saying, “Surely He shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence,” you might say, “Certainly God delivers me from cancer.”

If you fear a terrorist attack, start declaring, “My family and I are protected. No evil comes near me!”

Perhaps you are a parent or Sunday School teacher. Speak the scriptures over your children as well or read them out loud and have the children repeat them after you. This will get God’s Word in them and help them learn these principles while they are young. It may save their lives one day.

Keep saying the scriptures over and over, like you really mean it. As you say them, imagine yourself experiencing the promises in your life and thank God that His Word is alive and powerful and it always works.

Do this daily as often as you need to, till all fear leaves and you are fully confident of God’s protection over your life.

In order to keep fear out and your faith built up, read the scriptures at least once a day.

Psalm 91

1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
9 Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

A few weeks ago, I created the Psalms 91 confession. Today, I created another protection confession using different Bible scriptures.

Click on the download button and right click the image to save it to your computer. Print it out on white cardstock or paper and cut it out with a pair of scissors.

Keep it in a place where it’ll be convenient for you to pick it up and read it. Read it out loud at least a dozen times a day. Say it with conviction (like you really believe it) and think about what you’re saying. (Don’t just read through it mindlessly.)

This will help build your faith (faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God- Romans 10:17)  In Mark 11:23, Jesus said you can have what you say, if you believe. The more you say it, the more you believe it.

Here are the Words on the confession:

Scriptural Confession for Protection
No weapon formed against me can prosper.
I am not afraid of the terror by night;
nor for the arrow that flies during the day.
I live with God forever and I am protected
under His wings.
God is my refuge and my strength
and a very present help in trouble,
therefore I do not fear,
even if the earth is removed,
and the mountains are carried
into the middle of the sea.
Because I have made the Lord,
who is my refuge, even the most High,
my habitation; no harm will come to me;
no disaster(plague, calamity, disease)
comes near my home.
God gives His angels charge over me,
to keep me safe wherever I go.
I live in a peaceable, safe home
and I am able to rest quietly.
The Lord has given me power
to tread on serpents and scorpions,
and over all the power of the enemy:
and nothing shall by any means hurt me.

How to Change Your Life: Speaking Faith Confessions

      Comments Off on How to Change Your Life: Speaking Faith Confessions

Using faith confessions is a powerful way to change your life. Hebrews 4:14 says, “Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.” (NKJV)

In the Youth Devotional, Load Up, p.118, Gloria Copeland writes, “Your confession is what you say- not just with your lips, but with your actions. The Bible says Jesus is the High Priest of your confession (Hebrews 3:1). That means He has the authority to make anything you say by faith happen- as long as it’s in line with the Word.”

Speaking faith-filled words will change not only your thoughts but your body and circumstances as well.

In Mark 11:23, Jesus said, “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.”

Isn’t that wonderful! If you believe, you can change your life by changing your words.

However, unless you’ve trained yourself to do so, you probably won’t just stumble out of bed every day and start speaking faith words out of your mouth. It takes diligence and effort.

One solution is to have your confessions written out ahead of time and making an effort to read them out loud every day. You can keep them with your Bible so you’ll remember to say them when you are doing your devotions or you can put them in a place where you’ll have access to them throughout the day, such as on your desk, on your refrigerator or on your phone.
